Cultural Island Travel’s Weekend in Havana Tour is perfect for you. It’s specifically designed for busy people who want to fully experience Cuba’s vibrant capital city on a short schedule.

Words cannot truly describe the energy of Havana. See the Gorgeous seaside architecture on the Malecon (boardwalk). Experience the warmth of the people welcoming you with smiles and friendly faces. Listen to the music and watch the dancers line the streets. Most of all, Cultural Island Travel legally allows you to see Cuba’s real treasure—its people.

On our special tour you will meet Havana’s up-and-coming artists, as well as world famous painters. You will also be invited to attend exclusive dance performances, and listen to some of Cuba’s finest jazz, salsa bands and son bands in the style of the Buena Vista Social Club.

In Havana, you will feel like you are going back in time as you see the spectacular old American cars on the road and the fascinating old world architecture.     Sample Itinerary

    Day 1 USA – Havana

    • Arrive at Jose Marti International Airport (HAV)
    • Look for your tour leader in the arrival area holding a sign with your name
    • Enjoy a classic convertible car ride around Havana (1 hour)

    Havana is revered for its collection of thousands of vintage American cars, manufactured
    before the Revolution and subsequent US embargo. In the absence of automobile imports,
    these living relics are preserved by Cuban mechanics or improvised fixes by the owners
    themselves. This is a great way to see the different neighborhoods of the city on your first
    day.

    • Welcome dinner at O’Reilly 304 paladar (included)
    • Nighttime suggestion: Enjoy a traditional Cuban music show at El Guajirito

    Day 2 Havana

    • Visit Old Havana on an expertly guided walking tour (2 hrs)

    There is no better introduction to Havana than a walk through Old Havana, where the streets are bustling with everyday life. On this walk you will explore Old Havana’s five major plazas and stop at various private art galleries.

    • Lunch at Los Mercaderes paladar
    • Visit the Taller de La Gráfica lithograph collective

    Located in the heart of the old city, Taller de La Gráfica de la Habana is one of Havana’s most revered artistic attractions, featuring lithograph artists who create and sell their own experimental work on site. Visitors learn about the collective’s equipment and techniques from the artists themselves and can purchase art directly from the Taller.

    • Enjoy a private musical performance with one of Havana’s top musical groups
    • Nighttime suggestion: Enjoy dinner and local music on the terrace of La Guarida

    Day 3 Havana

    • Visit the Cuban wing of the Bellas Artes (Fine Arts) Museum with a private guide

    Enjoy as an art expert guides you through the Cuban wing of this beautiful museum, providing rich historical detail and context. The displays are chronologically ordered, so you will be introduced to classic works such as La Gitana Tropical (The Tropical Gypsy) sometimes referred to as Cuba’s Mona Lisa, and then taken through a visual exploration of Cuban identity and political expression over the course of several galleries.

    • Cooking class and lunch at La Reserva paladar
    • Enjoy a performance by Havana Compás Dance troupe

    Cuba’s Spanish and African roots are on display with this popular female group, which merges flamenco style dance with Afro-Cuban rhythms. Dancers use sticks, castanets, heels, flip flops, keys, chequerés and chairs to create a unique percussive aesthetic.

    • Nighttime suggestion: Visit the Cuban Art Factory

    Day 4 Havana – USA

    • Final shopping at San José Craft Market (time permitting)
    • Visit the quirky estate of famed writer Ernest Hemingway for a tour on your way back to the airport
    • ¡Adios Cuba!

    A Paladar is a privately owned restaurant. As opposed to regular restaurants that are owned and operated by the Cuban government, Paladares compete with each other and most of them are quite beautiful and creative with great food and flare. Eating at paladares also helps encourage private enterprise in Cuba. We use only paladars in our program to help local business and to provide you with the best Cuban dining experience.
