Itinerary

Sample Itinerary

DAY 1 USA – Tenerife

  • Arrive at Tenerife airport
  • Look for your tour leader in the arrival area holding a sign with your name
  • Head to lodging in Santa Cruz for check in and orientation
  • Spend the afternoon relaxing by la Playa de las Teresitas, one of the only golden sand beaches in Tenerife
  • Welcome dinner at Guanabí (included)

DAY 2 Tenerife

  • Visit Mt. Teide National Park, the highest point of Spain and a UNESCO world heritage site. Enjoy a cable car ride and spectacular vistas.
  • Head to the historic village of La Orotova
  • Enjoy a lunch at Gastro Lercaro
  • Visit La Casa de los Balcones, a 17th century Canarian townhouse
  • Guided walking tour of Orotova with its rich history and charming streets

DAY 3 Tenerife

  • Head to Icod de los Vinos in the northwest (35 minutes)
  • Visit the Museum of the indigenous Guanches
  • Visit the 1000 year old Dragon tree, surrounding botanical gardens with endemic plants, volcanic cave, and butterfly park
  • Lunch at El Mortero
  • Visit the nearby coastal town of Garachico and take a dip in the natural pools (optional)

DAY 4 Tenerife

  • Visit La Laguna, widely considered the most beautiful town in Tenerife and a UNESCO world heritage site. La Laguna’s layout provided the model for many colonial towns in the Americas. It’s known for its charming city center lined with pastel-hued mansions.
  • Lunch at Guaydil
  • Explore by car the Anaga mountains for Tenerife’s most spectacular scenery

DAY 5 Tenerife – Gran Canaria

  • Take a ferry from Tenerife to Gran Canaria (1 hr 20 min)
  • Enjoy a private camel ride through the dunes of Maspalomas
  • Lunch at Ibericos J Cruz
  • Check into all inclusive beach resort on the southern shore

DAY 6 Gran Canaria

  • Enjoy a 5 hour private boat ride around the island including stopping to snorkel or swim in a clear bay
  • Lunch and drinks included on the boat
  • Beach time on your own at all inclusive resort

DAY 7 Gran Canaria – Tenerife

  • Take a ferry from Gran Canaria to Tenerife (1 hr 20 min)
  • Adios, Islas Canarias!

A Paladar is a privately owned restaurant. As opposed to regular restaurants that are owned and operated by the Cuban government, Paladares compete with each other and most of them are quite beautiful and creative with great food and flare. Eating at paladares also helps encourage private enterprise in Cuba. We use only paladars in our program to help local business and to provide you with the best Cuban dining experience.
